Information for Parents

Below is some key information that may be helpful for parents. However, the main and clear information can be found in our policies. Please visit the policies section of our website.

Our school days

The school day starts at 8:40 (Infants) and 8.45 (Juniors)

Morning play is from 10:40 - 11:00 (Infants) and 10.30-10.50 (Juniors)

Lunches are from 12 - 13:10 (Infants) and 12:15 - 13:15 (Juniors)

School finishes at 15.10pm (Infants) and 15:20pm (Juniors)

These times make it easy for parents who have siblings at the Junior School to get to both schools. On the last day of each term, school finishes at 13:40 (Infants) and 13:50 (Juniors).

It is extremely important that children are in school on time; being late can be very disruptive to a child (and their class).

Attendance

We strongly discourage pupils from taking time off school for any reason except religious purposes or bereavement.  Any unauthorised absence is noted, monitored and investigated by the school. The Education Welfare Officer may contact parents if there is a significant absence.

"Data from 2019 shows that 84% of Key Stage 2 pupils who had 100% attendance achieved the expected standard, compared to 40% of pupils who were persistently absent across the key stage."                                                                                         (Education Hub, 2023)

Please do not leave children unaccompanied before 8:45 am as we cannot accept responsibility for them. Children will not be allowed to leave unless collected by a known adult or unless an alternative arrangement has been made known to the class teacher.

Parents are requested to inform the school by email or telephone at the earliest opportunity if a child is absent due to illness.  Please see the illness section of our website for more information about this.

To view our Attendance Policy (including in other languages), please visit the Policies section of the website.

Illness

Please read the link below to see when it is appropriate to keep your child home from school. If in doubt, please call to speak to a member of staff.

According to the Health Protection Agency, children should not return to school until 48 hours following sickness or diarrhoea.

To report an absence due to illness, please telephone or email by 9.15am, either the infant school for Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 or the Junior School for Year 3 - Year 6.
